CUNCOLIM: Social activist and former president of AVC Lions Club Francis Braz succumbed to COVID-19 infection on Saturday night. 

Braz tested COVID positive two weeks ago and was admitted to South District Hospital, Margao. Five days ago, his health condition deteriorated and was shifted to the Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim, where he breathed his last. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter.

His last rites will be performed on Monday at Velim cemetery. 

Hailing from Velim, Braz was residing in Margao and served as the president of AVC Lions club. He was associated with AVC Social and Cultural Club and was the trustee of Chieftains Memorial Trust. He was also associated with many other social and cultural associations. 

Braz used to organise the All Goa Mando Festival each year in Margao. 

Known as youth icon, he offered carrier guidance to the students. He was also running institution named TAEM. 

AVC Social and Cultural Association and Chieftains Memorial Trust have condoled his untimely death. 

President of Chieftains Trust Oscar Martins and president of AVC Social and Cultural Association Neeraj Aguilar said they have lost a proactive activist and it's sad that Braz is no more.
