PANJIM: Two days after Herald reported about women in Ponda’s plight to receive payment from Griha Aadhar scheme, Social welfare Minister Subhash Phal Desai on Friday said that by the end of the month the Dayanand Social Security Scheme payments will be released.

The first installment will be released this week while the second will be released in the next week, he said. Three months’ payments under the DSS Scheme are due.

“In three months the payments will be regularised,” he said. He has appealed to the beneficiaries with adequate financial resources to opt out of the scheme so that deserving members of the society can avail the benefits, he added.

Griha Aadhar Scheme beneficiaries from Ponda taluka had complained that they had not received their scheme amount for months.

Most beneficiaries, especially the needy, who are dependent on the monthly scheme amount to meet their monthly expenses, had requested the government to release their amount at the earliest.

Only a few received their money in their bank accounts, but most beneficiaries claimed that they have not yet received their monthly scheme amount of Rs 1,500 for several months and are waiting for the government to deposit the same.
