
PANJIM: The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) has announced implementation of Physical Education - Sports and Well-Being as additional subject for Class IX from the current academic year onwards.
The subject is in line with National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) scheme. The Board has recommended ensuring that five sessions of 35 minutes each per week is dedicated for Sports and Well-being at Class IX and X.
The Goa Board, in a circular said that the school assessment subject namely ‘Health Education, Physical Education and Sports ‘ will have syllabus as per the new subject titled ‘Sports and Well-Being ‘ for implementation in all the schools with immediate effect.
The GBSHSE said that those schools or students opting for Sports and Well-Being as the seventh subject. The existing Health Education, Physical Education and Sports will be exempted from school assessment subject.
Students will have 40 marks theory - 20 marks each for first and second term - and 60 marks practical.
