MARGAO: Yet another stalwart of the Konkani stage, Alegre Antao, popularly known as Star of Arossim passed away this evening at his residence in St. Estevao. 

Born in the picturesque village of Arossim-Cansaulim in 1932, Star of Arossim made his début as a female artist in Minguel Rod`s tiatr “Open to Close” there after he went on to become one of the main pillars of the ‘Bomboikar Group’ that came down to entertain Goans twice every year with their eagerly awaited tiatrs.

Star of Arossim is survived by his wife Avelina and son Savio Antao. His legacy is being carried forward by his nephew Hilary Braganza from Arossim.
