State Electricity Department to tie up with IPSCDL

Will introduce online application filing for new connections, load connections as well as public grievance system in addition to focusing on ensuring an ease of doing business

Panjim: The State electricity department is all set to tie up with Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) with a focus on to ensure an ease of doing business for people.

Power Minister Nilesh Cabral announced the department will soon introduce online application filing for new service connections, load connection and even public grievance system to ensure hassle free services to the consumers. He also declared launch of smart meter facility for the consumers and a Solar Power Policy.

He said that department is tying up with IPSCDL to go smart and file in this regard has already been moved. In addition, he said a new Renewable Energy department would be set up.

“As we intend to go online with the services, initially there would be hiccups. People will have to understand and corporate. Everything will fall in place smoothly thereafter,” Minister said adding ‘after election code of conduct, we will ensure non-problematic power supply to the public’.

Cabral was speaking while laying the foundation stone for aunderground electrical power cabling for Ribandar area by IPSCDL.

“Smart meters will be installed for domestic consumers in Tiswadi taluka first with the help of smart city mission. There will be polycarbonate seals which are tamper proof,” he said.

Cabral said the IPSCDL has taken up Rs 63 crore work of smart conversion of overhead to underground electrical network for the entire Panjim city and the foundation stone for Ribander is laid today.

Earlier speaking IPSCDL director Siddhart Kuncolienkar said that they intend to complete the work before coming monsoon season.

He also said that plans are on to develop Ribander into “Smart Ribander”, brining it under CCTV surveillance and also WIFI connectivity to the locals. Special pedestrian lane would be also developed, he said.
