MARGAO: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the education system in Goa would change drastically after adopting the National Education Policy for the State.

He was speaking at a function organised by Mahila and Nutan English High School to felicitate of SSCE meritorious students.

Replying to a query from Samaj Seva Sangh president Sudin Naik, Sawant said, “In the next two years, we will see many changes in the education sector and we desire to take the standard of education to a higher level".

He said the common convention of pre-primary, primary, secondary and higher secondary sections will change. "With the adoption of National Education Policy, the syllabus too will change enabling Goan students to compete with all boards," Sawant said.

The Chief Minister assured to move the proposal of the school complex for Margao. Chief Minister said, "We will not differentiate with Margao/South Goa. Manohar Parrikar had a dream of providing the best education to the deepest strata of the society. I will look into the proposal and let the Education Department inspect the site and in the next 6 months will go ahead with the proposal," he said.

Sangath co-founder and Professor at the Harvard School of Science Vikram Patel said, “Half of our children are failing to learn even after getting the best schooling.
