PANJIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Friday said that the State government will highlight the importance of the three linear projects to the Supreme Court’s Central Empowered Committee (CEC), which is currently in Goa to inspect the proposed infrastructure projects.

Sawant said that the concerned government departments will place the facts before the CEC highlighting that the projects are need of the hour.

“We don’t want people to suffer like how mining dependents are suffering with closure of mining industry. These projects are in the State interest and need of the hour,” he said.

The Chief Minister urged the people, who feel these projects are a must for the State, to approach the CEC and highlight their importance. “There are some NGOs, who for their personal interest are working against these projects,” he said.

The three-member Central Empowered Committee  on Thursday inspected the site of proposed National Highway expansion and Tamnar power transmission line, passing through Mollem Wildlife, while on Friday, they inspected the double-tracking of South Western railway line.
