PANJIM: The Vainguinim Valley Residents Association and Aakash Madgaonkar have filed a writ petition in the High Court on Thursday seeking for directions to be issued to government authorities, to ensure that the construction work being carried out at the Vainguinim Beach by a hotel is stopped.

The petitioners have demanded that the hotel refrain from carrying out any further construction activity pending the adjudication and final outcome of the show cause notice issued on April 28 by Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) to the hotel.

Earlier on Thursday, the Principal District and Sessions Court, Panjim on Thursday adjourned the hearing in connection with the ad-interim ex-parte order sought by the owner/management of the starred hotel to Monday, May 10.

The hotelier had filed the suit restraining praying to temporarily restrain respondents from physically interfering in any manner with the work of repairs and restoration at the Dona Paula Beach.

During the hearing, the hotel submitted to the Court that they will not go for construction till Monday considering the pandemic situation. Arguments in the matter will resume on Monday.
