PANJIM: Traffic police and RTO officials have been instructed to stop the practice of halting the same tourist vehicle multiple times within the State to check for documents.
This was conveyed at a special meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant with various officials on ending harassment of tourists. Against this backdrop the aim of the meeting was to sensitise participants of the meeting, officials who interact with tourists in Goa regularly due to their line of work. The CM guided the officials on how to sensitively deal with tourists.
The proposal to provide holograms to tourists at the border after checking their papers has been dropped as it was feared that it would result in long queues at the check posts. Instead, officials were asked to suggest new mechanisms to stop the prevailing practice of checking papers multiple times.
