PONDA: Marcaim MLA Sudin Dhavlikar blamed the government for its negative policies in failing to control the COVID spread in the State.

Briefing to media persons, he said, “The government had earlier declared Goa a green zone and remained relaxed without proper provision of facilities. Earlier there was a need to take the Opposition MLAs and panchayat members into confidence, which didn’t happen.” Expressing unhappiness at not being invited for the awareness meeting at Ponda, he said even Chief Minister and his OSD attend to phone calls, but some ministers in charge of health awareness team are not attending to urgent calls so what is the use of this team.

Sudin said on Monday there were five COVID cases in Wadi Talaulim Panchayat which caused panic among locals.

He said, “If the figure rises, then he and the panchayat will decide on the lockdown in the panchayat for next 15 days. Around 60 swabs of Talaulim locals are being tested at Ponda Sub District Hospital and 60 will be tested on Tuesday.”

He feared that a lady, who visited Ponda hospital for treatment, got infected and this could be the reason for the virus spread in the panchayat area.

He assured his support to the panchayat in the fight against COVID.
