PANJIM: The State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has decided to continue with curtailed syllabus for Class I to VIII by 30 per cent even for the current academic year 2021-22 in view of ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The syllabus was curtailed during the last term, with outbreak of the virus.
Speaking to Herald, SCERT Director Nagraj Honnekeri said that the circular on curtailment of syllabus, imposed during last term, will continue even for the current academic year.
“The curtailed syllabus for Class I to VIII is by 30 per cent. The official circular in this regard will be issued shortly,” he said.
As per the circular issued during last term, there is no curtailment of any portion of grammar and language skills in all language subjects for upper primary level.
Earlier this month, the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) too, for the second consecutive term, had decided to curtail the syllabus of Class IX to XII to the extent of 28 per cent to 30 per cent in the major subjects for the ongoing academic term.
The Academic Year 2021-22, for the Class I to X and XII has commenced in virtual mode from June 21 onwards. To ensure that no student is missed out, schools have been directed to explore alternatives for those who fail to participate in online learning.
Meanwhile, the SCERT, through Goa Board has informed that the Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), offered by the Union Ministry for Education, for Class XI and XII, will be held in online mode for the current term.
The Board in a notice issued has said that the National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has been offering online courses for the school education system in 11 subject areas- Accountancy, Business Studies, Biology, Chemistry, Economics, Geography, Mathematics, Physics, Psychology, English, and Sociology, for Classes XI and XII.
