Former St Andre sarpanch Jagdish Bhobe quit Goa Forward Party (GFP) and joined TMC as Congress fielded its candidate in St Andre constituency. Within an honour of his joining, the TMC declared his candidature for St Andre seat.

The TMC released its first list of 11 candidates for the February 14 Goa Assembly polls. Former MLA and party president Kiran Kandolkar will contest from Aldona constituency while, former Socorro sarpanch Sandeep Vazarkar has been fielded from Porvorim constituency.

Gilbert Mariano Rodrigues who was unsuccessfully contested 2017 election on Congress ticket will now be the TMC candidate for Cortalim.

Kandolkar said that list of remaining candidates will be announced soon as the process of filing nomination papers starts from January 21.

When asked for reasons for fielding Faleiro from Fatorda constituency, Kandolkar said that the former Chief Minister had represented a part of the Fatorda constituency before delimitation of Assembly segments in 1989.

The TMC is contesting its maiden Goa Assembly polls in alliance with the oldest regional Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party. The two-time Chief Minister Faleiro had won from Navelim constituency seven times since 1980.
