BICHOLIM: Manda Ghadi was on Friday elected unopposed as sarpanch of the nine-member Latambarcem Panchayat. The post of sarpanch had fallen vacant after former sarpanch Damini Gawas resigned. The election for the post of sarpanch was held in the panchayat hall. All the nine panchas were present for the election. RO Suryaji Rane conducted the election. Earlier, Umesh Padolkar was also elected as sarpanch of Narve Panchayat after the opposition candidate remained absent for the election.

Harvalem panchas take oath 

MAYEM: Harvalem Panchayat members were administered the oath of office on Friday, while the sarpanch and deputy sarpanch will be elected on August 14. Panchas Sagar Malik, Sharada Malik, Mahesh Divkar, Guruprasad Naik and Priya Thakur were administered the oath of office by Bicholim Block Development Officer Amit Parab.

Surla, Kudne sarpanchas election on Aug 11

MAYEM: Surla and Kudne panchayats will elect their respective sarpanchas on August 11. The elections for the post of sarpanchas of Surla and Kudne panchayats will be held in the respective panchayat premises at 11 am, informed extension officer Suryajirao Rane, who will witness the proceedings of the election.

Velim consumers meet

MARGAO: The Velim Civic and Consumer Forum (VCCF) will have its monthly general meeting of consumers on August 10, at 10.30 am at St Xavier High School, Velim. Issues to be discussed are gram sabha proposals, vector borne diseases awareness and screening of migrants at Cutbona, breast feeding and nutrition campaign, HIV/ AIDS, garbage management etc.

KRC’s special Ganpati trains 

PANJIM: Special trains will run on Konkan Railway route to clear the extra rush of passengers during Ganpati festival in co-ordination with Central Railway. Train no 02045/02046 Lokmanya Tilak (T) - Karmali - Lokmanya Tilak (T) AC premium special (reserved), will leave from Lokmanya Tilak (T) at 1.10 am on August 28, September 4 and 11 and reach Karmali at 11.30 am on the same day. Train no 02046 Karmali – Lokmanya Tilak (T) special train will leave Karmali at 11.55 am on August 28, September 4 and 11 and reach Lokmanya Tilak (T) at 10.15 pm on the same day.
