VELIM: The local boys of Trinammol Congress (TMC) across two generations Antonio Clovis D Costa of Velim and Dr Jorson Fernandes of Cuncolim led the first major large scale public foray in their heartland, with a largely attended public meeting at Assolna near Historical Lohia Chowk.
The party was also in full strength as one of their prominent articulate leaders Yatish Naik in an impassioned speech said, "Corruption and inflation are rampant in the state and in the country and the only option to defeat the BJP is the Trinamool Party. Trinamool is the only alternative to the anti-people government if you want a party and government with strong will and determination to defeat BJP only choice is TMC.”
He further said that only Mamata Banerjee can defeat Narendra Modi and BJP. “Mamata’s mission is to bring all anti BJP forces together to bring down communal forces,” he said.
"Trinamool is the only option to remove BJP and Narendra Modi from power. We need to strengthen the hands of Trinamool by involving the people of Goa to fight for the interests of the state and the country," he said.
Fernandez, a potential candidate for Cuncolim Constituency slammed the BJP, Congress and Aam Aadmi Party. He said, "If a Congress MP can advice his own workers not to support corrupt Congress, if their own party leaders are saying tickets and MLA are been sold, what else proof you need and to clear mess created by BJP and Congress. Only party capable is TMC and that's what we are telling voters by our door-to-door
Antonio Clovis Costa, a potential candidate for the Velim constituency, has accused incumbent MLA and Minister Philip Neri Rodriguez of leaving the Congress and betraying the electorate. The meeting was well attended by the locals from all walks of life and age groups.
In football loving Velim and Cuncolim, the political "khela hobe" (the games will happen) has surely kicked off.
