MAPUSA: Tension rent the air at Karaswada, Mapusa on Tuesday following an accident between two vehicles, which led to one of the parties even firing in the air.

Both the parties filed counter complaints with Mapusa Police who later registered cases.

According to sources, the accident occurred at Karaswada between 9 and 9.30 am when two-wheeler rider one Arif Langoti and car driver one Yogesh Padloskar were moving in one direction. However, due to the road’s narrow width both vehicles dashed against each other which resulted in arguments between the two leading to assault.

Yogesh, a resident of Karaswada in his complaint stated that Arif restrained him by blocking the road and further abused his wife with filthy words, assaulted her with slaps, pushed her by insulting and outraging her modesty. Arif further abused complaint’s son Yash with filthy language, assaulted them with slaps, fist blows and hard object causing them injuries. Arif further threatened them with dire consequences. 

Mapusa Police have registered an offence under Sections 341, 504, 354, 509, 323, 324 and 506 (i) of the IPC against Arif.

In his counter complaint, Arif, a resident of Ektanagar, Housing Board, Mapusa stated that car occupant Yogesh, his wife Bhagyashree and their son Yash with common intention over the issue of road rage, abused him with filthy language, assaulted him with slaps, fist blows and stones causing him injuries. Further Yogesh negligently fired a bullet and threatened him with dire consequences. Arif claimed that he escaped the first bullet that Padloskar fired at him as it just passed close to his ear while the second one was fired in air.

Mapusa Police registered an offence under Sections 504, 324, 336, 506 (ii) r/w 34 of the IPC, Sections 3, 25 and 27 of Arms Act against Yogesh and his family.
