PONDA: Tension prevailed on Tuesday at Shantinagar, Ponda where mobile tower erection work started at middle of a locality, near water tank.
Locals protested at the site along with Councillor Archana Dangui. The locals said there are around 200 houses around the site and locals have had submitted memorandum opposing the mobile tower in such close vicinity.
Locals in complaint to Deputy Collector said, “It is wrong to provide permission by PWD to construct mobile tower in its premises near water tank at Shantinagar area.” Even court’s direction said that it should away from locality.
The locals fear radiation and health hazard to children’s. They demanded to the work claiming that memorandum is already given to various government agencies.
BJP Block chief Vishwanath Dalvi, Councillor Archana Dangui assured crowd to look into matter. Congress leader Rajesh Verenkar was also present.
