Ramkrishna Sudin Dhavalikar becomes even more important in state politics now that Manohar Parrikar has left for the Centre. He speaks to RUPESH SAMANT on a variety of issues including what he feels about the move

HCN: How do you react to the fact that Manohar Parrikar has left for the Centre?

Sudin: Manohar Parrikar was needed in Goa. The 2012 elections was fought together by the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party projecting Parrikar as the CM. And it was good if he continued as chief minister for 5 years. But after the Lok Sabha elections when the BJP won he was asked by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to come to the Centre. So he had to go.

However, there was a need here for the next two and a half years. He has done a lot of work. He has also taken up a lot of issues in hand. He has put out lot of schemes. Now it is up to the next person on how to carry these on.

HCN: What are your future plans? What you feel

Sudin: We are Cabinet ministers of the MGP. Whatever decision is being taken by the MGP that decision will also be followed by us.

HCN: You have seen both cabinets - Digambar Kamat’s and Manohar Parrikar. Who do you feel conducted these better?

Sudin: When Manohar Parrikar used to speak, if you listen carefully, you could understand the issue. He explained all aspects. Digambar Kamat used to not talk at all. Secretaries used to do all the talking. What the secretaries used to talk, it would not reach (be understood) by the Cabinet. And because of this some uneducated people used to talk anything. I could not say anything at that time as I had taken an oath.

HCN: Will Parrikar be missed?

Sudin: Because he is at the Centre he will be able to help us better. Parrikar has also said that after every two weeks he will be coming to help us out on issues till things are put in order.
