PONDA: The Betki-Candola Samvardan Samiti (BCSS) on Tuesday demanded the cancellation of the license issued to a mega housing project at Khandola.
According to the BCSS, the mega housing project is to be spread across 1.21 lakh sq mts of land, to house about 762 flats and another 72 commercial establishments.
Addressing media persons in the presence of social activists Arun Madgaonkar, Bismarque Dias, Swati Kerkar and Krushnanath Gaonkar, BCSS President Sarvendra Fadte Gaonkar said, “We have documentary evidence that the land conversion has been done illegally as the area where the permission has been granted comes under the NDZ (no-development zone).”
“The total houses in the village panchayat are about 850 and with this project, the number will be doubled. This will have an adverse impact on the existing resources in the area.”
“A representation pertaining to the issue has also been given to the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and Priol MLA Deepak Dhavlikar,” Gaonkar added.
