Two held with 488 non-ISI helmets

MARGAO: In a major seizure, Konkan Railway police station on Sunday nabbed two persons and seized from their possession around 488 helmets without ISI mark, besides other accessories, all worth nearly Rs 2 lakh.

Konkan railway police station Police Sub-Inspector, Dattaguru Sawant said the goods were transported to Goa on the Sampark Express on Platform No 3. “Upon inspection, our police team found that the accused persons Shamsher Alam and Mohammed Y, both residents of Azad Nagar, Margao had brought the consignment of helmets in boxes to Goa”, PSI Sawant told the media after the seizure.

He pointed out that since all the helmets were without the ISI mark, the police have booked a case of cheating and offences under the Copyright Act against the two accused persons. Besides 488 helmets, the police also seized spare glasses of helmets and other accessories, all worth around Rs 1.95 lakh,” PSI Sawant said.

The police are conducting further investigations.
