MARGAO: Margao Town Police got three days remand for a maid who was caught robbing things from the house of a lady that she was working for following a complaint by Sophia Dias (39) who had employed the maid to work in her flat at Ratwado in Navelim.

The maid named Shabana who lives in a slum in Navelim had over a period of about four months stolen things worth around Rs 90,000. The stolen things include jewellery, mobiles, watches, clothes including towels.

In fact when the newly purchased towels went missing Sophia thought of recording what was happening in her room and that is when the maid was seen opening purses and bags to look at what was in them and finding this suspicious a police complaint was lodged.

PSI Laureen Sequeira who is handling the matter disclosed that some stolen material has been found but much is still to be recovered and was hopeful of getting it now that they have her custody for three days.
