CURCHOREM: Former Deputy Chief Minister and Marcaim MLA Sudin Dhavalikar announced on Sunday that this would be his last Assembly election.

Dhavalikar was speaking at the inauguration of office of former Curchorem-Cacora councillor Anand Prabhudesai, who is likely to be the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) candidate in Curchorem constituency in the ensuing Assembly polls.

Dhavalikar is representing Marcaim constituency for the fifth consecutive term since 1999.

Dhavalikar recalled the overall developmental works carried out during the MGP’s 17 years rule in the State and appealed to the people to support the regional party to bring back the past glory. He alleged that the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) always engineered defections to grab power.

Dhavalikar also informed the gathering that the MGP will field candidates for Quepem, Sanguem and Sanvordem constituencies, which is a stronghold of the party.

“We have shortlisted Balaji Gawas and Ramakant Gaonkar for Sanvordem and have three aspirants each for Quepem and Sanguem constituencies and one for Canacona seat,” Dhavalikar said.

Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party working president Pratap Gawas, Curchorem-Cacora councillors Mangaldas Ghadi and Aparna Prabhudesai, Balaji Gawas and other party workers were present during office inauguration.
