MARGAO: Three panchas from Dramapur-Sirlim have filed complaints with the authorities including the police against the installation of a mobile tower alongside the National Highway beside Jackniband bus stop without panchayat approvals.

The tower has been installed for the purpose of 4G broadband services.

Dominica Noronha, Bernand Rebello and Netty Ferrao were the complainants in the matter.

They said that permission for the mobile tower was granted by the PWD chief engineer on condition that the company would conduct a prior awareness campaign and drive on the effects of the mobile tower. No such awareness campaign was conducted, they alleged.

that the tower was erected at night to avoid any confrontation from the villagers. They demanded an investigation on legality of the tower.

Dominic clarified that he was not against technology, but was against erecting the tower on the national highway setback area.
