MARGAO: Three minor girls from different parts of Salcete taluka, who were lodged in a children’s protection home in Colva, were allegedly kidnapped by an unknown person, said the police.According to police sources, one of the girls who was reportedly abducted, managed to reach her home, and is with her mother.

These three minor girls were alleged victims in separate cases of kidnapping and rape currently under investigation and were lodged in the children’s home after being rescued.

The Colva police on Tuesday received a complaint from the children's home, stating that the three minor girls were kidnapped by unknown persons from the lawful custody of the complainant (children’s home authorities). PSI Subash Gaunker of the Colva police registered the offence under Section 363 IPC and also under Section 8 of the Goa Children’s Act, pending investigations. He said the police have sent wireless messages to stations across Goa and beyond with descriptions of the missing girls.

Earlier this year, Vikram Kumar, 21, from Muzaffarpur, Bihar, wanted by Cuncolim police in connection with the kidnapping of a student, was arrested. He had been on the run for four-and-a half-months, absconding with the kidnapped student, when he was eventually detained in Delhi. PSI Ravindra Velip and the Cuncolim police station team arrested him in Delhi with the assistance of the Delhi police.

The victim, who was also brought from Delhi to the Cuncolim police station, had been lodged in the privately-run children’s home in Colva. Unfortunately, she has allegedly been kidnapped again.

The other two minor girls were victims in kidnapping cases registered by the Margao and Colva police stations, respectively. The mother of one of the victims had lodged a complaint on April 1, this year, alleging that her minor daughter was kidnapped from her lawful guardianship. Cuncolim police sub-inspector Kavita Rawat is investigating the case.
