MARGAO: The members of All Goa Toddy Tappers Association on Saturday alleged that fake OBC certificates has been issued by some of the office bearers and hence demanded an inquiry into the matter at the earliest.
The Association also alleged that few have even contested the elections on OBC certificate by bribing the association.
Addressing the media persons here, Caetano Fernandes, a senior member said that the association has not done renewal for the last many years. However, President Remy Borges continued to issue the OBC certificates, that too for the people who are not belonging to the community.
“There are several irregularities and discrepancies in the association. President is issuing the certificates to non-members of the community by taking money, and denying certificates to the original members,” he alleged.
Johnson Fernandes said that the registration of the association has not been renewed for the last many years, but they are still issuing the OBC certificates, which is totally illegal.
"Major misappropriation of funds has been noticed in the association. No proper procedure is followed while issuing the certificates," he stated.
He informed that they will file a police complaint with regard to the misappropriation of the funds.
“We demand Social Welfare Department besides, the Registrar of the Societies, and Collector office to initiate action against the culprits at the earliest,” Johnson demanded.
