Traffic police-DoT launch TRUST  project for food, grocery delivery riders

PANJIM: The Goa Traffic Police in co-ordination with Department of Transport on Thursday launched TRUST project about traffic rules understanding and safety training centre for food or grocery delivery riders.

The programme held at Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Altinho, was attended by IGP Omvir Singh Bishnoi, IPS, Secretary (Transport ) Subhash Chandra, IAS, and SP Traffic Rahul Gupta, IPS, among others.

Speaking on the occasion, IGP Omvir Singh Bishnoi said that two wheelers are most vulnerable to road accidents and injuries and fatalities hence food or grocery delivery riders should be more careful on roads and should see for their safety first while riding two wheelers.

Secretary (Transport) Subhash Chandra said food or grocery delivery riders are sometimes under pressure of delivering orders in speedy manner and hence they tend to ride over speed.

It was advised to CEO of Zomato to study this issue and to devise estimating time for delivery taking peculiarity of Goa roads in account.

SP Traffic Rahul Gupta presented the work carried out so far by Goa Traffic Police, in co-ordination with Director of Transport under project TRUST and various awareness initiatives to sensitise different sections of people hoping to reduce the accidents.

CEO of Zomato (Goa) Kartik Gharat was also present on the occasion. He thanked Goa Police for this initiative.

As many as 50 participants from Zomato and Blinkit attended the training session. Similar training or sensitisation sessions will be held at ITI Margao, ITI Vasco and RTO Office Ponda covering all the food or grocery delivery riders of Zomato, Blinkit and Swiggy, SP Traffic Rahul Gupta said.
