Tree crashes at Ghodkem,  temple wall, slab damaged

MARGAO: The main wall and slab of Shri Sati Devi Temple at Ghodkem, Balli were damaged when an age-old tamarind (Chinch) tree crashed due to strong winds and heavy rains on Thursday. 

The incident took place at around 4 am when the tree crashed on the slab damaging it. The temple’s main wall at the entrance developed cracks following the crash.

The Ghodkem villagers gathered at the site at around 7 am and informed the fire services.

The Margao fire services personnel rushed to the site and cleared the tree and debris. The Fire Department has estimated the loss to be around Rs 2 lakh. However, the officials managed to save property worth Rs 2 lakh.

The temple committee and villagers thanked fire service personnel for their quick response in clearing the debris and saving the temple from further damage. The Talathi from Balli panchayat also visited the site.
