PANJIM: Mining truck owners will demonstrate at Azad Maidan, Panjim on Wednesday demanding the continuation of mining in Goa. The decision to demonstrate was taken on Sunday at a meeting of truck owners associations.

Truck owners said the demonstration is to bring pressure on the State and Central governments to find an early solution to prevent the closure of mining from March 16.

It was also decided to stop all mining and ore transportation on February 21 to allow truck owners, drivers and the mining dependents to attend the protest. 

Savordem MLA Deepak Pauskar had said, “Whatever may be the government’s decision, it should be taken at the earliest.”
