MAPUSA: Mapusa Police arrested one Rahul Babu Rathod, aged 20 years, resident of Moira and one Lucky Krishna Chetri, aged 24 years, resident of Mapusa for allegedly assaulting three persons, native of Maharashtra, on Saturday.

According to information obtained from the Mapusa Police, one Ashok Mulmule, native of Maharashtra lodged a complaint at Mapusa Police Station stating that on Friday late evening, two unknown persons with their common intention abused the complainant and his two relatives Prabhakar Gavando and Mahadev Engle with filthy words and assaulted them with wooden danda, slaps, kicks while causing them bodily injuries at KTC bus stand, Mapusa.

The complainant further stated that the two alleged accused forcibly snatched his mobile handset and wallet containing documents and cash Rs 2,000.

After registering the offence under Section 504, 324, 326 and 394 R/W 34 IPC and a team of Mapusa Police was formed. During the investigation, Mapusa Police detained the two alleged accused persons, who during interrogation admitted their involvement in the said crime.

The police have also recovered the stolen mobile and cash Rs 2,000. Mapusa Police team was headed by Police Sub-Inspector Ashish Porob consisting of Head Constable Sushant Chopdekar, Police Constables Prakash Polekar, Rajesh Kanolkara and Prasad Gaonkar. PSI Porob is further investigating the case.
