canacona: Two vehicles belonging to a single owner parked in front of his house were allegedly put on fire by miscreants before they fled on a two-wheeler on Monday at Dapot in Canacona.

The incident reportedly happened at around 4 pm on Monday when two miscreants reportedly arrived on a two-wheeler and allegedly set the two 4-wheelers on fire before fleeing on the same two-wheeler they were travelling on.

Both the 4-wheelers belonged to a single owner and were parked next to each other.

Due to the combustible material like fuel in the tanks and tyres, fire engulfed both the cars in quick time. By the time the fire engine reached the spot both the cars were totally burnt. Fire and emergency services have put the loss in the incident to about 16 lakh.

Canacona police have started the investigation into the case as one of the eyewitness said two persons on a two-wheeler came close to the parked cars and flung a lighted bottle filled with combustible liquid on both the cars before escaping from the scene.

Police said they are verifying the facts and the investigation is on to ascertain to find out the exact cause of the fire in which a Mahindra utility vehicle and another hatchback were totally destroyed in the fire.
