MARGAO: Drishti lifeguard rescued two fishermen from a rip current at Betalbatim Beach, on Monday.
According to lifeguard Cleyton Vaz, the incident happened at around 8.40 am at Betalbatim Beach, wherein a group of around 20 fishermen were hauling fishing net ashore. From the group, six fishermen were standing ahead, in deeper waters. Suddenly a strong wave knocked off two fishermen and got pulled into a rip current.
The lifeguard on duty Cleyton, who was stationed on the shore keeping a watch on the group, rushed to the aid of the duo.
He swam into the waters with his rescue tube and secured them to the tube and brought them back to the shore. Though visibly shaken, the fishermen vitals were normal.
