
PANJIM: The State government has constituted two committees to probe erstwhile Reliance Salgaocar Power Company Limited (RSPCL), Sancoale and aerial power bunching.
Both the committees will be headed by Chief Secretary P K Goel. Besides Goel, Secretary (Power) and Superintending Engineer Rajeev Samant as technical officer will be members of the committee to probe Reliance Salgaocar Power Company Limited (RSPCL) arbitration matter, which cost the State government Rs 510 crore.
Similarly, the Chief Secretary, Secretary (Power) and Superintending Engineer Mayur Hede as technical officer will investigate the alleged Rs 145 crore scam into the aerial bunch cabling project.
During the just concluded Assembly session, the opposition members had raised the issue of arbitration wherein the State government had to shell out Rs 510 crore to the RSPCL while, the opposition has alleged a scam into the failed aerial bunch cabling project implemented in the State in 2016.
Power Minister Ramakrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar had blamed the then Congress government for signing the agreement for the 48 MW independent naphta-based combined cycle power plant at Sancoale in January 2017 and which went into commercial operation from August 1999 till it was shut. Current Industries Minister Mauvin Godinho was the Power Minister when the agreement was signed.
As far as aerial bunch cabling project was concerned members from both sides had demanded inquiry into the failed project started by the Electricity Department in 2016 during the tenure of then Power Minister Milind Naik. The opposition members had demanded to fix responsibility for draining public exchequer.
