MAPUSA: The legal metrology department booked two grocery vendors, one from Mapusa and the other from Porvorim, for overcharging packaged oil and using unverified weighing instrument. 

Inspections were conducted by a team of metrology department on Sunday after receiving complaint against the two grocery vendors for overcharging packaged commodities and using invalid weighing instrument.

A general store owner in Mapusa was booked for selling Ruchi Gold Palm Oil packages of 200 ml at a price more than the MRP (inclusive of all taxes). The owner of the shop charged Rs 30 for one Ruchi Gold Palm oil package of 200 ml against the MRP of Rs 25. 

At Porvorim in Housing Borad Colony, a general store owner was booked for using unverified weighing instrument. 

The raid was conducted by Assistant Controller Legal Metrology (Mapusa) Gulam A Gulburg and Inspector of Legal Metrology (Bicholim) Nitin Purushan.
