On the basis of the description of the accused and CCTV footage police confirmed that the gruesome act was committed by a single person who followed the victim from Char Rasta on bare feet most of the time through adjoining fields to remain out of sight of the victim or other passersby.

Police found a pair of sandals and a shawl belonging to the victim from the site.

The victim was sent to GMC for medical examination which showed bruises and other injuries to her private parts confirming that she was sexually assaulted after being strangulated by the accused.

The effort of the team investigating the case bore fruits when they received a call from their Margao counterparts that they had arrested a person who matched the description shared by them.
