PONDA: The locals at Usgao-Ganjem village panchayat have expressed concern over huge craters that have formed at Vadakade Usgao junction circle besides potholes in various parts of the village panchayat.
The locals said these craters are life threatening as Usgao circle at Vadakade located on prime junction with road here leading to Bicholim, Valpoi, Ponda as well as towards Dharbandora.
This entire road stretch sees heavy traffic of motorists and pedestrians every day. The potholes are now on the verge of becoming craters as their sizes are increasing. As these are filled with muddy water, it becomes extremely difficult for the motorists to identify them, especially at night, when it is dark.
Meanwhile the locals in Curti-Khandepar village panchayat have also expressed concern over potholes at Amigoes junction which is posing risk to motorists. The junction here is on national highway and traffic movement is towards Ponda, Belagavi, Panajim and Margao.
According to them, The damaged roads can lead to major fatal accidents feared the locals. The Locals also pointed out illegal and dangerous parking at roads at Amigoes Junction despite Board by Panchayat prohibiting the parking of trucks.
