PANJIM: The Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Thursday tweeted that the drive to vaccinate adults in the age group of 18-45 years would commence from May 15 across 35 government-run centers.

"Let's works together to defeat the menace of coronavirus in the State," Sawant tweeted.

The State had received 32,870 doses of Covishield on Wednesday from the Serum Institute of India (SII) for the age group of 18-45. The Government has however placed order for five lakh doses.

Sawant said that the vaccination will be provided free of cost to all the beneficiaries.

However, the beneficiaries will have to get themselves registered on the Central Government's CoWIN portal.

The vaccination of adults in the age group of 18-45 was supposed to commence from May 1, however the same was held back due to non availability of vaccine.

At present, the Manipal Hospital is administering vaccine to age group of 18-45 at a cost of Rs 1350 per dose.

State has received total 6, 21,720 doses of Covishield from the Center for those above 45 years and frontline workers.
