Various establishments under scanner in Port Town

VASCO: The Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department inspectors along with the representatives of fuel companies and police carried out surprise joint raids on various establishment and eateries situated in the port town to check misuse of domestic LPG cylinders.

Civil Supplies Department Mormugao Taluka Inspector Sangeeta Morajkar said that the department wanted to check if the eateries were unauthorisedly using domestic LPG cylinders instead of commercial cylinders mandated for eateries and commercial outlets.

Morajkar said that the raids were conducted following complaints by some persons were unauthorisedly using domestic cylinders for commercial purposes in fast foods and eateries and wanted to stop these malpractices as was also causing shortage of domestic LPG cylinders in the town. She said that the inspectors will carry out random inspection of different establishments situated in and around Mormugao taluka in every six months to keep a check on them.

According to Morajkar, during surprise raids the inspectors found that many fast foods stalls were unauthorisedly using domestic cylinders for commercial purposes and that they have now been warned. She said that all establishments and eateries have been told to mandatorily use commercial cylinders and said that action will be taken against those found indulging in malpractices.
