VASCO: Following directions from Mormugao Deputy Collector Mahadev Araundekar, Mamlatdar Satish Prabhu on Thursday afternoon held a closed door meeting with both the temple committees affiliated to Sai Baba temple, Vasco and directed them to either resolve their issues amicably or else the temple which has been identified as roadside illegal religious structure will be shifted elsewhere.

He dispute between old and new committees of Sai Baba temple, Vasco started on Tuesday (October 10) over the alleged opening of donation box by the members of old committee without intimating the new committee. The new committee alleged that the old committee opened the donation box illegally.

Later, the matter reached the Vasco police who sought intervention of Deputy Collector Mahadev Araundekar to resolve the issue either by appointing Mormugao Mamlatdar as administrator or by holding joint meeting with both the parties.

As requested by the Vasco police, Deputy Collector on Thursday directed Mormugao Mamlatdar Satish Prabhu to hold a joint meeting with both the groups, verify the facts and try to solve the mater amicably either by electing a new committee without being formally on record as this temple has been identified (as per the Supreme Court guidelines) as a roadside illegal structure.

As directed, the Mamlatdar on Thursday afternoon held a closed door meeting with both the committees and directed both the committee to submit statement of accounts during the next meeting scheduled on November 10.

Similarly, since the lock of the donation box has three keys, both the committees were told to keep one key each and the third key will be kept in Prabhu’s custody.
