VASCO: Preparations are in full swing for the famous Lord Damodar Saptah in Vasco, which commences on August 2, with the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) deciding to allot stalls 15 days in advance to avoid any confusion and to ease the process. At a meeting on Thursday, the MMC sought the views of all 20 councillors regarding the Vasco Saptah. Councillors decided that traditional stall owners would be allotted their usual spots, while other owners would need to produce their photo identity to book space.

“This year, different teams of municipal inspectors will be formed and each inspector with his team of four workers will be allotted 100 stalls to keep a check on any illegality,” said Councillor Manish Arolkar. He informed that MMC will install CCTV cameras at various by-lanes to keep a check on the stalls and the public visiting. He also said the police will be requested to open the Khariwada ring road to divert heavy vehicles. Arolkar informed that though the fair will last for 10 days, the Swantantra Path road will be thrown open for general public after seven days.
