Vasco fish vendors push for MMC action against illegal fish sale through legal rep

VASCO: Vasco fish market vendors' legal representative Fr Michael Fernandes on Friday urged the Mormugao Municipal Council to initiate act against roadside fish vendors and maintain cleanliness in the temporary shed. 

After meeting Mormugao Municipal Council chairperson Leo Rodrigues and chief officer Jayant Tari, Fr Fernandes said that he was happy with the action taken by the municipality against wholesalers and urged the municipality and police to act against the roadside fish vendors. He also requested the municipality to maintain cleanliness of the temporary shed where fish vendors are temporarily accommodated during the construction of a new fish market. 

Fr Fernandes said that he had requested the municipality to use the police force and continue to act against roadside vendors selling fish illegally. He said that both, the chairperson and the chief officer have assured him that they will not allow illegal sale of fish.

Chairperson Leo Rodrigues said that the meeting with Fr Fernandes was fruitful and that he has assured him that the municipality witll take steps to stop illegal sale of fish.
