Velim locals demand suo moto action on Herald story

CUNCOLIM: Velim MLA Cruz Silva on Sunday said that he will look into the Velim blindman’s land grabbing case.  

Taking cognisance of the story published by Herald about how a 78-year-old Florencio Gregorio Dias was dragged out of the house, shoved aside and his house demolished at Velim, His wife had gone to the market when the incident took place.  

Silva said that he was unaware of the incident and that nobody brought it to his notice. He said that if the victim approaches him with documents then he will certainly take up the issue and will fight to take action against culprits and also will see that the person will get justice.

Meanwhile, villagers are furious over the issue and are demanding that the Chief Minister and the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and SP South should take the matter suo moto. The blind professor and his wife are under tremendous  pressure and due to fear and threats are hesitating to file a police complaint. They are of the firm belief that they will get justice.

The couple was in shock as they had just repaired their kitchen and never expected that they will be thrown out of their house like this and have their house demolished. 

Two Chief Ministers Manohar Parrikar and Pramod Sawant had assured the family to intervene and help them in the 14-year fight for his land but in vain. The matter was also raised in the Goa Assembly and yet his house got demolished through forgery.
