Verla-Canca panchayat to provide Wi-Fi to residents

MAPUSA: The Verla-Canca panchayat became the first panchayat in Siolim constituency to provide free Wi-Fi facility to its residents.

MAPUSA: The Verla-Canca panchayat became the first panchayat in Siolim constituency to provide free Wi-Fi facility to its residents. This was decided in the first gram sabha held on Sunday that passed various important resolutions relating to development of the village.

The panchayat has also turned paperless and all records will be maintained on computers. Besides, the panchayat has also started online payment of taxes.

The first resolution passed by the panchayat was to float a garbage tender, where the bidder would have to engage in house-to-house garbage collection, segregate it into wet and dry to further dispose it at Saligao plant.

The panchayat also passed a resolution to collect garbage tax from locals as well as from tenants residing on rent basis.

The other resolutions passed by the panchayat was to complete the repair work of road from Bodgini to Parra border with proper beautification with high-mast lamp at Canca circle along with walking track from Canca circle to Lotlikar Bar.

The panchayat also passed a resolution to build an overhead tank in Verla and connect it to bore wells, since Verla village was facing shortage of water.

The first phase of panchayat ghar was completed and the panchayat now passed a resolution to begin the second phase after completing the formalities.

The gram sabha was also attended by the WRD Minister Vinod Palyekar, who assured the people of solving their problems. 

Palyekar later distributed mango, coconut and cashew samplings to the people.
