MARGAO: Telaulim and Navelim villagers stopped the Western bypass road work presently underway at Telaulim.

The villagers and local MLA Luizinho Faleiro allege that the contractor has been proceeding with the work despite being told to keep it on hold. “The contractor is acting over smart by speeding up the work even after the chief minister and the PWD minister having asked him to stop the work,” Luizinho said.

The local panch has said that until there is a flyover over this section of the road they won’t allow the work to proceed.

“There are several villages and institutions (religious and educational) all around this road stretch and there is fear of life here if the road is constructed in this manner,” said a local panch.

The MLA said that there are accidents happening on this road and if there is a level crossing, then, there would be no stop to accidents there.
