Panjim: No visitors would be allowed to attend the ensuing Monsoon session of the State Legislative Assembly in view of  COVID-19.

The two-week long session will begin from July 27.

Speaker Rajesh Patnekar said that visitors would be barred from attending the session in view of the rising COVID cases.

“The visitors’ gallery would remain close; however, media would be allowed to attend the session by maintaining proper physical distancing,” he said.

Speaker added that wearing of mask would be made mandatory for all including Ministers and MLAs.

“Thermal scanning of body temperature would be done before allowing entry in the complex,” Patnekar added.

The Speaker added that the session was initially planned for three-weeks; but it has however been curtailed due to the COVID pandemic.

The opposition, who will look to corner the State government on issues like the spread of COVID-19 and the failing law and order situation, has demanded that the number of days of the session be increased.

The State Budget 2020-21 will be discussed and passed during the session.
