PANJIM: ERONET, a web-based app by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to facilitate inclusion or deletion of voters names in electoral rolls was launched in Goa on Monday. The system will help the Chief Electoral Office (CEO) to check inaccuracies and duplicate voters.
The app to facilitate voters and the special summary revision - 2018 was launched by Governor Dr Mridula Sinha. Using the software, people can register for voter ID and get voter card details changed online.
Under this system, people can apply at any time to register their names or for other purposes. With ERONET, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will be able to see pending applications and fill the checklist of the applicant during field verification. Extra proof could be collected using the mobile application itself. The major benefit of this system is that the voter can upload personal details which will reduce chances of mistakes in voter card details.
The Governor called ERONET a milestone in the history of elections. “ERONET is a remarkable step to unite the countrymen with a permanent EPIC number. This will be very helpful especially to those who are constantly mobile within the country,” Sinha stated.
CEO Kunal said, “After online registration, voters will get a unique ID, with which they can check the status of the application till the completion of the registration process. The online application will directly reach the Election Returning Officer (ERO), BLO and supervisor. After receiving the request, the BLO will contact the voter for verification.”
