MAPUSA: Water supply to parts of Bardez taluka was affected after the main pipeline burst near Viraj Nursery at Colvale on Wednesday morning.
PWD sources informed that the pipeline burst when the work to install new pipelines from Colvale to Karaswada was underway.
"This pipeline provides treated water from the Assonora plant to Porvorim which is further supplied to Porvorim, Calangute, Saligao, Siolim and Anjuna", PWD sources said.
"Since the main pipeline burst, till the water from the pipeline is not emptied, repair work cannot be carried out. Once the flow stops, repair work will be undertaken, which will take at least 12-14 hours", the contractor informed.
Meanwhile, the pipeline was repaired late in the evening and water was released in the night.
