Woman kidnapped as she had four daughters & wanted a male child: Cops

Vishranti Gawas, the woman who became the most wanted suspect for allegedly kidnapping a month-old baby is in the police net.

Police sources said the kidnapper, in her late 30s, has four daughters and committed the crime because she wanted a male child. Amidst a frantic search to find the baby and the kidnapper – who remained unidentified till her arrest – Gawas’ family hosted a naming ceremony for the infant at their Saleli residence.

It was this buzz that caught the attention of the search team as they entered the house only to find they had cracked the case.

The woman’s appearance matched the lady in the CCTV footage. The baby was fine.

“She wanted a male child and to achieve this, she plotted a kidnapping plan. We are trying to ascertain if she is the sole conspirator. She had a miscarriage but she didn’t inform her family. She faked her pregnancy from her family and looked for a gullible woman with a male child. At GMC she found her target and executed the plan,” said the source.

It is learnt that her family too desired a male child prompting the woman to take the crime route.

Gawas’ husband confirmed that it was the first time that he saw ‘his month old baby’. The complainant mother was summoned to the spot where she quickly, without haste identified her missing baby. “Prima facie the child is that of the complainant mother. We will still carry out remaining procedures to medically ascertain blood relation of the women with the infant,” said an officer.

Investigation also revealed that while at the GMC cafeteria the incident occurred, the complainant’s husband was carrying out formalities regarding polio vaccination of his child. Statements of all the concerned will be recorded as the investigation is being carried out by Agassaim police.
