Woman, mother-in-law test positive in Canca

MAPUSA: An employee of a Verna-based company and her mother-in-law on Wednesday tested positive for coronavirus in Canca.

Sources suspect that the woman working at Verna IDC may have contracted the infection at her workplace and the virus later got transmitted to her mother-in-law. Both the infected persons have been shifted to COVID Care Centre.

Following these cases, the swab samples of the other family members tested negative. 

Meanwhile, the jail guard attached to Colvale Central Jail tested positive for COVID. 

Sources informed that the infected person, a resident of Chicalim, had joined duty last Sunday.

Sources informed that after joining duty, the infected person had cooked food for his fellow workers in the guard barrack. 

However two days ago, he proceeded on sick leave. 

Sources informed that he may have contracted the infection from his brother, who had tested positive for COVID.

On Wednesday, the report of swab samples of the jail guard tested positive.

Meanwhile, the Mapusa Fire Station personnel sanitized the jail premises and collected swab samples of 20 jail guards for testing.

In all 120 swab samples collected from Khorlim- Mapusa tested negative while a person tested positive. More 60 swab samples have been collected on Wednesday.
