MARGAO: Anganwadi workers and members of Self Help Groups on Tuesday marched around the Margao municipal garden as part of the Rashtriya Poshan Mission aimed at creating awareness on proper nourishment for children.

The rally that had a large number of women participating was flagged off by South Goa Collector Tariq Thomas while Joint Director of Women and Child Development Deepali Naik was also present. The ladies went around the garden carrying posters and banners and also shouting slogans on health nourishment that included slogans against junk food.

Child Development Project Officer Sita Rebello disclosed that the month long campaign that started on September 1 will end on October 4 during which period they would have various programmes at different places to educate people about healthy eating.

“We propose to have cooking demonstrations where we shall show how healthy food can be prepared without much trouble and at a relatively cheap rate,” said Sita pointing out that a healthy baby contest was already held at Agalli.
