CUNCOLIM: In a tragic incident, one worker Yogesh Sharma, aged 35, died on the spot, at Cuncolim Industrial Estate, on Tuesday.
Sharma, a native of Madhya Pradesh, who was residing at Cuncolim was working at a steel and rolling plant as a contract labourer.
Sources informed Herald that the steel plant was closed down for maintenance work. The deceased while working on one of the machines suddenly lost control and fell on the heavy machinery facing major injuries, which lead to death on the spot.
Cuncolim Police have registered a case of unnatural death.
South Goa Deputy Superintend of Police, Mamlatdar and Cuncolim Police Station Police Inspector visited the spot and conducted a detail inquiry in the incident.
Recently, in ammonia gas leakage at Quality Foods, one worker lost his life and four were seriously injured.
The locals demanded to book the labour contractor for negligence and compensate the family of deceased worker. Cuncolim Police are further investigating the case.
