QUEPEM: Xeldem Village Panchayat’s Sunday gram sabha is all set to witness strong arguments on an open space issue of Housing Board Colony property.

The matter was investigated after a resident of Housing Board property complained about the activities on an open space of Housing Board to Quepem Deputy Collector’s Office. Later, on the direction of Deputy Collector’s Office, the Quepem Mamlatdar conducted inspection on the alleged encroachment made by the panchayat on the Housing Board Colony property at Xeldem.

The residents of the colony have opposed the work undertaken by the Panchayat to build a volleyball court on the open space.

Sarpanch Caitan Lima said that the property of the Housing Board was donated to the Panchayat and the legal papers have been transferred to Xeldem Panchayat.

The sarpanch said that the panchayat would use this open space for volleyball court and till now he has not received any written complaint.

Panchayat Secretary Ravindra Wadikar said that the property of Housing Board has been given to the panchayat in a legal manner. He said that the people will decide on what should be done over the open space in Sunday’s gram sabha, which will be considered as a final decision.
